Hi All, and dear reader, well.. many thanks for clicking on me… Hoorah!
Firstly, my fellow mentors and I, are here to help as best as we all can, to help you succeed in your chosen profession.
Well, a little bit about me, I am a forces (military child) growing up from RAF base to RAF base, a total of about est. 8 or so bases in 18 years, followed by 2 colleges, then University whereby I obtained at that time 25 years ago, a HND at that time equivalent to a Foundation Degree.
Well move on 15 years… tons of jobs, not fitting in, the minefield of the workplace, unemployment, redundancy then work again... to a Diagnosis of Asperger at that time DSM 4-(ICD-10) under the code F84.5. Nice to be classified.. not!!, However, diagnosis I got, then... at the ripe old age of 38 years old… Now 46 years old…. 2 jobs later and 4 years in… Right place, Right time and Here I am at the University of Oxford , Nuffield Department of Medicine at the Jenner Institute at this moment in time.
Well I am a big believer to setting expectations to individuals I mentor even before I start to give an inform choice based practice, and reflection to the individuals I mentor.
Although I like to study… I’m not the world’s expert obviously!!
However, I am big on learning about many cultures, experiences, thoughts, processes and more. Moreover, learning about what fascinates the people I help and try to signpost, either look at accessibility or any issues you may come across with different eyes and a differing way. Well I get things wrong… of course… no doubt about that… I’m sure you will too.. If you’re willing to learn… so am I ...I’m big on collaborating, problem solving together, and importantly both reflecting.. mind mapping etc..
I do hope you will find this informative.
